Unidentified formation sign.

I am struggling to identify this formation sign.

It has the red cross on a blue shield as worn by the 8th Infantry Division in Palestine, but with an extra sword. Or it has the red cross on a blue...

thank you for the clarification, it is appreciated. It came in a job lot of Indian badges and I suspect that it was mistaken for a 5th Mahratta Light Infantry badge.

Having recently accidentally purchased a button to this battalion I now seem to have purchased a badge with a nearly identical design in a job lot.

I am not sure if the badge is genuine or not but...

Probably an impossible question to answer but this, now brooched badge, has the Birmingham Hallmark for 1916 if I am reading it correctly. It appears that it might originally have had loops.

The Roman numeral IV appears to be Indian made. I have no idea who wore it thoughb but possibly the 4th battalion of an infantry regiment. I would be interested in buying it if it is for sale.
