I would have thought, because of the Corps it would be either East African made for the campaign in 1940 or Egyptian/North African made a little later.

I have never actually seen a single example like that before, they tend to have a circular, or, on occasion, a rectangular hole, although, I have seen a similar Welsh Regiment without a hole.
