Not sure how long after the war, if at all, the 'HMS' tally continued to be used but just by seeing that I would assume it is a wartime photo.

It looks to me like the fittings have been moved. I also have my doubts that the crown, VR & shamrock with thistle group is original to the badge.

My 2p worth on the RIR badge is that it may be a wartime maker so the fittings are not standard but made in brass which has been nickel plated, the plating now worn off.
