ASC - Indian post-partition?

I've had these slip-ons for many years and often wondered about them.
My thoughts are that they are post independence Indian. Can anyone confirm or otherwise?

Both coloured berets can often be seen within the same group in the late 1940s/early 50s as some units...

Strictly speaking the letter identifies the year of approval by the RAOC inspector rather than the date of manufacture. Yes, it is a Q so 1940.

The caps look very much like the British made ski/ mountain cap. These were worn quite extensively in Italy during the latter years of the war.
