I didn't know Officers received these. Only 2 stripes in 1918 also indicates no previous overseas service.

It would be very odd for him not to be wearing medal ribbons for his wedding. ...

I'm researching a WWI Officer in 5/E Yorks Cyclist Bttn attached to XIII Corps Bttn Army Cyclist Corps.
He had long service before hostilities:-
1895-1898 1st East Riding of Yorkshire...
