Not so sure

I have been actively collecting RAF badges since 1976 and whilst I know never to say never, I have not come across a bronze RAF OR cap badge in all that time even though I was sold one pertaining to...

Not Mess Dress

I think Mess Dress (No5 Dress) can be ruled out as it is not wire embroidered.

Not sure

Can't say that I have seen many with the collar badge (with pin fitting) used in the cap badge. I would be more happy with the metal prongs that go through the backing and are then bent over. I have...

Senior Man?

Further to the previous answer, I understand that the Senior Man/Course Leader is identified by a white band on the slider, although in the examples I have seen, this band is embroidered into the...

Early PTI Insignia

Hi,
My understanding is that both badges were introduced in 1918 and were worn on both arms, directly above rank badges so they would be 'handed pairs' with the eagle facing rearwards. There were...

Hi,
The badge on the stone-coloured nylon backing is the post-72 version, I have attached the pre-72 version on khaki twill.

In my...

Not worn in RAF uniform??

It's my understanding that these badges were awarded AFTER the recipient left the RAF and joined the US forces. Therefore it is unlikely it would be seen by someone wearing RAF uniform. I stand...

Same as RAF???

I could be wrong - but i was of the opinion that RNZAF Air Officer cap badges were the same as corresponding RAF ranks although the RCAF and RAAF have a different eagle to the RAF one.
