I think that inference can be drawn for Gaunt branding but I do not believe that same distinction necessarily applies to Lambourne. Some Lambourne plaques are found with the ‘Lambourne’s’ wording...

It’s fake.

Genuine WM cap badges are scarce, they were worn pre-WW1 and then a die cast version post WW2. I showed a genuine early example in a thread recently.

I also agree, personally my money would be on Firmin only because with so many knocking about from that die I’d suspect we may have bumped into one made on a non-WO contract i.e. TF association etc....
