I seriously doubt that there's a South Yorkshire connection, based upon the dates you've alreadt given. South Yorkshire didn't exist as a county before 1974.

Sorry but I've only just noticed your reply. I'll speak to Mum tomorrow to get full information but his name was Fred Kaye & I think he was born in Kirkburton in, I think, 1899.
