Quick question; was the old 57th of Foot (West Middlesex) cap badge used by any sub units of the Middlesex Regiment during WW2?

The Tank Corps badge doesn't seem to have had a slider at any point, so it's definitely a copy. Looks not too bad otherwise though.

Isn't it a qualification badge for snipers? As to vintage I've no idea though, but I'd guess at it being pre-WWII for wear with service dress, as all the more modern ones I've seen have been cloth.
