Not Southern Railways as they were founded in 1923.

There is a similar "IR" button in Ripleys Rifle Volunteers relating to Cumbria but it seems to be very uncertain?

Could it be "LR" for a Somerset unit, 17th Lyncombe or 21st...

Two new buys that came together yesterday, I don't think I have encountered these back marks before.

Is the first button an early Bath Police button? and any ideas on the second please?
