Of course, there is the white/ blue 1915 badge so this is just another colour choice. Looks like opaque turquoise but still a nice variant.

I think that...

Hi Mike and others

Interested to see this badge which I'd always thought was WW2 with the maker's mark (T.& S. Ltd?) and the unusual "snowflake" pattern to the reverse. Some Australian lapel...

Hi Tim

Hope all well with you. When I see the 1915 renumbered badges, the renumbering is usually on the horseshoe fitting. My guess is that it would be virtually impossible to erase a number...

Hi Mike

Another great informative post. Thanks for that.

I would think that seniority within the work place would have been indicated by something more visible such as an armband as it would be...

Hi Leigh

Thanks for that. Don't you just love the iconography of the winged cherub (putti?) with flaming cornucopia that, presumably, contains phosphorus!

His attire must have led him to...

Think "match girls" and certainly don't...

I like your ideas and think that there's some good logical reasoning behind it. I'd more or less concluded that the "fire gilt" process and "best gilt" were different.

I would have...

Hi

Thought I'd take the opportunity to post these two again. The nickel-plated version is standard(ish!) but the enamel and gilded version?

I suspect that the "fire gilt" possibly refers to the...

Just for fun, please allow me to re-post these two "treasures" that I have picked up in years past.

Someone might be able to ID the regiment.
