Yes, that's collar badges, I thought you were talking about colour patches/arm badges.

There are photos of crossed MG with figure '2' worn as collar badges, I think this appears in one of JK...

Metal guns were not worn officially - the yellow cloth guns were the authorised badge of the Aust MGC and were sometimes not worn, especially when the MG battalion patches were...
