It was made in brass post WW2 for ORs in what was the TA successor...

It was not my enquiry. The small loops do suggest a school uniform cap badge and not military at all. There are a number of other school badges that has been wishfully misattributed as military...

Possibly or he might have worn the Bronze General List coat of arms cap badge. Both were in use at the end of the war in 1918 as units transited between the 2.
