Both of those badges are, IMHO, unmarked silver badges and not plated. If they were plated there would be some evidence of plating on the lugs.

I have this example which was id'd by past forum member Dragon166 as an early 1918 RAF officer's badge. I haven't tried to peel back the padding to see if it is marked though.

I think perhaps that is just a maker's variation as I have an early hallmarked example, 1898 i think, which has the 3 diamond-cut tips to the star, not 5.
