Pictures of both types in wear during WW1 exist. My belief is the Artists Rifles was in use at start of the war.

Sorry Dean that Firmin mark is fake as too is the badge itself which is from the MM catalogue fake die. Note how the bird in the bottom left quadrant mergers into the cross.

Hi Dean,

Nice collection and great work on the STs. The 10th and 11th badges must’ve switched places in the night, the Hackney should be first. The LRB is the later pattern with Great War battle...
