A year or so back I was told by a serving RM C/Sgt that designs for RM badges under the new King had already been approved that far back.
Just as interesting perhaps, will all units now be presented...

Sweetheart

Purchased this silver sweetheart(?), hallmarked for Birmingham 1914.
Thought it might be RMLI, RMA or RM from WW1.
The other picture is a lugged badge on sale on EBay and described as Corps of...

We had to make holes for badge lugs in our berets and caps, these caps probably wouldn’t be issued with holes in them. Could yours have been used with a slider rather than lugs perhaps Irv?

Whilst...

RMA collar and cap badge

As Irv will testify, there’s been some debate on here about the orientation of the lugs denoting the difference between RMA cap and collar badges. No matter which side of the fence you sit on it...

The multiple holed posts around the back certainly look like fixing points to put it in the middle of a helmet plate
There might have been another of those posts at the top perhaps
Possibly too...

RMN title

This white metal RMN title is advertised as Royal Marine Naval division. I don’t think that is the case, although I could be wrong (as I usually am). I am however curious as to what it might be.
My...

The pictures attached show the RMLI officer’s glengarry - similar to your badge but then quite different. It is the same size as, if not actually made from, the centre of the officer’s helmet plate....

Answers on a postcard

Has anyone got a clue as to what this might be.
As can be seen in comparison to a cap badge, it is too small for split Officer’s cap badge.
Fitting is similar to RMLI horn for the button boss and,...

Display

If you want the display to tell a story of the Corps and, going by the badges you’ve listed, I am guessing circa 1900 onwards, I would suggest:

Queens Crown Helmet Plate central, RMA top left RMLI...

Afternoon Mike.
Am pretty sure there are some bandies on the forum, certainly at least 2 who transferred from the band to the Corps as well.
I believe the band has a similar forum but don’t have a...

RM & Commando

Pat
Your assumption was not necessarily wrong. Royal Marines and Royal Marine Commandos, when formed, wore that same cap badge - it was the colour of the beret that changed for Commandos.
In my...

Ahh that’s a shame

Thanks for the input Simon. I quess another way of narrowing down the correct era would be if I could discover when the size/design of the badge changed.

Whilst initially happy from Ritchie’s...

Dating a cloth badge

I am wondering if anyone who is knowledgeable in respect of cloth badges would be able to determine the era a badge comes from by the way it is constructed?...

I would add that the red & white one features what appears to be Kings Crowns, so that one might be earlier than the labelled ones?

The labels that are there predates this regs issue but I am guessing the colours mentioned would still apply. Not sure about the red & white ‘fancy’ one. Can’t find that in...

Red is right?

Thanks Ritchie. If I am reading your post correctly, the one I have is therefore Naval because of the red circle.
It is large so it could well be the right badge for the RMLI medical unit?
