From what I have seen Phil, cloth titles and arm of strips were not common in the middle East in WWII, mostly they wore rank and maybe div flashes, but not always.

12th royal lancers pagri badge? this one is also hm F&S but 1908. I note he has a badge of the same design, not in silver, which he has for the 10th hussars...a difficult design to pin down

The thread starter is too small to be an arm badge, more likely a collar though the design appears much like a denbigh hussars sweetheart I own and others I have seen.
