Hi Phil, the shields are South African PAG(Prince Alfred's Guard) worn from 1902. I think that they are still worn. With lugs on they are probably pre 1980's. They are collar badges. Regards Andrew

Hi, The badges were worn from 1905 to possibly 1913. The 2nd Bn was designated "Johannesburg". The Transvaal Cadets ceased to exist in 1913 when the Union Cadets were established. Regards Andrew
