I'm not so sure that it is a J1 box. It might be a J2. I haven't touched a C42 since 1976 so I don't remember all the different components that came with a C42.

That could be quite possible. The qualification that cadets receive is the same as for the military so I would have thought that cadets would receive the same wings.
