Hi Alan,

Here's mine, front and rear. The overlays are clumsy and very proud and seem to have been added as an adaption. I suppose it could be the ex-property of an officer trying to get a...

Hi Alan,
Your second example with the overlaid pennons is identical to one I have but mine has the small Gaunt stamp.

Interesting. I saw you'd noted silver but thought it only applied to the pennons and elephant.

Here's my bi-metal one although you can't see the sweathole and wires. They do look similar.

I'm not convinced by this badge Wilf, I have one myself (although mine has a fixing shank, yours looks like it had one at one time) and have never been happy with it either, despite the slotted...

Another small request for info from Peter. I have a pair of collars which instead of having sweatholes have very shallow rivets. Would these be the silver & gilt versions?

Thanks Peter,

It's all good fun. There would seem to be a third maker though, I wonder who it may have been?

Another thought, is the bimetal pennon version with the slotted sweathole,...

I have a pair of what I think are bimetal collars with a circular sweathole behind and elephants head and two each on the lower pennons which have flush overlays, these are smooth backed with one...

Peter,

I'd be very interested on your views on this Gaunt badge as the branding is what we generally call the 'safe' small font without the full stop between Gaunt & London.

There's no...

I'm not so sure. Sweathole or not those badges with all g/m pennons tend to have indentations to the rear of the lances rather than be completely smooth. This (smooth) feature is usually found on...

27th Lancers bimetal.

I know the subject of the 27th Lancers had been brought up here before, but nothing ver seems to be concluded.

Does anyone have a definitive die-stamped full bimetal version, ideally with a...

The semi-bimetal one (ie all brass pennons) tend to be made by Firmin and are always die stamped and not smooth backed and as Alan has pointed out the elephants head isn't as wide as that on the...

The collars. A nice matching pair but for some strange reason there are sweatholes on the pennons (filled) but only one of the elephants heads has some sort of pin attachment. Then a single collar...

I'd also welcome an opinion on the badges I have too. Like Alan above I have the brass pennon Firmin version (fully die stamped) and the bi-metal pennon one (die cast/sweathole/rods). The former I...
