Any ideas from the pictures are the shamrocks...

Any ideas from the pictures are the shamrocks collar, shoulder titles as they have a coffin lug fitting to reverse Unsure of the shamrock 8 as it has lug fittings

8th Union Vol NSW inf Regt IRISH RIFLES

The base metal of badge is brass the electrolytic process gives it the gilded finish, hence when polished the gilding wears through to brass

The 1900s dress regs mentions metal collar for scarlet frock, larger horizontal
grenade in Sil and gilt was worn on the undress uniform it changed in 1902 to the bronzed version

It was pinned to a British cavalry/ yeomanry board when I bought them, by the crudeness of the inscription it looks bazaar made, so I think you are on the right path,

Plated brass badges

I actually think they are silver/Nickel plated examples with either the plating removed or worn, if you are plating it is normal to plate over a brass substrate, hence when it wears the brass shows...

Further to my previous post the badge is the officers Bearskin cap grenade, silver overlay on gilt, fittings to reverse can be fold over blades, lugs and screw posts or combinations of above
