Definitely has that blackened reverse (back) finish common to British badges and seems to me like a very hard, deep coloured brass. Footed lugs.

I'm not aware of reproduction York Rangers badges. There are both unmarked and Scully marked badges, and also a smaller variant. The example of the small badge I have seen is a two-piece brass badge....
