To be fair I had a fighting chance of getting it...

To be fair I had a fighting chance of getting it back to a decent finish as the fire gilt was still there under all the crud. In my experience fire gilt does tend to last much better than later...

Finally managed to pick one up. Rather aged, bent and manky to start with but it has cleaned up nicely. That only leaves me with the Belgic & Regency plates to pick up to complete my full time line....

Various Glamorgan

For me this year added these items to my collection:-
1. Officer’s 1868 Shako plate for Royal Glamorgan Light Infantry. Whilst in relic condition it’s a great complement to my later 1869-78 plate....

I have been lucky enough recently to pick up the central device of an officer's SBP to the West Glamorgan Militia as shown in the 1st photo. Obviously it is missing the lower Calamus (quill/shaft)...

Neither the Militia battalion, nor any of the Vol battalions of The Welsh Regiment, wore cap badges using the Welch spelling.
