thank you for the clarification, it is appreciated. It came in a job lot of Indian badges and I suspect that it was mistaken for a 5th Mahratta Light Infantry badge.

Having recently accidentally purchased a button to this battalion I now seem to have purchased a badge with a nearly identical design in a job lot.

I am not sure if the badge is genuine or not but...
