Both the DCLI and Y&L badges look good to me. ...

Both the DCLI and Y&L badges look good to me.

The P indicates that the badge is (or was) silver plated, although it looks like some of the plating has worn away in places.

I’m interested to gauge people’s thoughts on badges 1 and 3 in these pictures.

They appear to be from the same die and don’t look right to me.

I’ve pictured them next to an 11mm Gaunt badge...

I’ve just come across the story of Major Seth Kwabla Anthony, who was the first black African commissioned into the British Army, following his joining the GCTF in 1939.

Do you mean the 12th (Norfolk Yeomanry) Battalion, Norfolk Regiment?

If so, then it doesn’t. It covers 1st to 3rd Bn and the earlier book on Kitchener’s army covers the 6th to 9th service...
