Anyone familiar with the HLI on Vis in 1943/44?
being mountain-trained would the men have worn any unique badge?
any idea of the badge? thanks, operated at times with 2 Commando.

I think if it is genuine and not fake, (not sure yet) it would have been a pickup in Egypt, private-purchase, before SAS fell under Airborne. thanks for your interest.

the downswept wings were issue from the PTS at Ramat David.
recruits in 43 went there first before going to Italy with the LRDG
logically there would not have been...

surely there was an expedition badge and/or sponsor's badge for this?
same expedition where L Cpl Swierzy was killed by an avalanche and expedition called off.
