I take your point. It's the neatest bit of soldering I've ever seen though! Rock solid on a quite thin stamped badge. I wonder why anyone would go to the trouble though?

Thanks for that. I spotted the GPO versions too but they looked like they had been rubber stamped in the Post Office! The ones in my photos look properly printed which makes it all the more puzzling...
