Neither, it is thought that they may be prototypes for the Royal Gurkha Rifles. I have not found any proof of that, but that was the idea that came to most.

Always been 1st Prize with the Shell in wreath. The 1877-1892 badge was in silver wire, red or yellow worsted. There may have been silver metal versions then, but I have not found any record of them...

No I don't think they were.
The R with flashes was for REME Radar mechs, and the OpFC was for the RA Locating Radar Operators, again I have never seen the badge being worn.

2. Operator Fire Control (Radar).

I have never seen the OpFC badge being worn.
