I like badges such as that. Soldiers often put in some real elbow grease and purposely polished down the high points for better shine. This was especially so in the Guards. If you were to polish that...

You do have a very valid point here. I would actually favor changing the reference dates to 50 and 56, but I think it would be rather difficult for an already entrenched practice.

I collect British Indian Army, and often forget there is that little sub forum down there. South Africa has it's own section that is even less active than the obscure Indian one.
Well, at any rate,...

Indian Army section

I have often felt that the Indian Army section of this forum deserves a better presence than it presently has; stuck in a little seen subsection at the bottom, with a rather sleepy level of activity....

I agree the eagle 1DG and 7DG are bad. The Westminster Dragoons does not thrill me as it is a very poor strike, but I am not sure it is fake however.

Lot of WW2 Infantry badges cheap

Too many spares. Asking only 55.00 USD for the lot, which includes shipping anywhere (which will set me back 17.00 alone). That is about 39.00 GBP
Thanks,

From top left, the second tartan is Cameron Highlanders and the ninth is HLI, worn in lieu of lettered shoulder titles in WW2 and for some time after.

The 4/5 R. Scots is a phony, and I believe that Cameron Hldrs. is as well. The 5th Seaforth is a cast badge, not the normal die struck. I don't know if it is period or not.

A nice jacket with those buttons. I suspect the rank stars may be replacements as the originals were likely smaller in size to fit better. As you know, they varied considerably in size.
