The size of CEF cap badges can vary quite a bit...in some cases where the collar is a miniature of the cap badge, having the correct dimensions...

Going back through some notes,,,and the Ottawa Highlanders badge came in late 20's so it would make sense that some CEF era badges were worn into the 20's

Still doesnt explain the different sizes....

This badge is made up....cast one piece. I've never seen anything in pictures/dress regs etc that indicated a seperate badge for pipers. Also the centre piece is copied off the 1920 pattern badge not...

..also those are the original lugs. The discolouration is from the original attachment of the lugs. If the lugs had been replaced, you would see new solder.

The quality and striking of RCASC badges certainly has a wide range. Some early examples are of superior quality. The badge worn during the war came into affect in 1937....some later wartime economy...
