I should have mentioned...It was in the pocket of a set of 37 ptn BDs, along with a WW1 Victory medal (For a Canadian 44th Inf!). The BDs were badged up with RAMC shoulder titles, sans anything...

I can confirm that ALL new entrants wear the GSC cap badge and dark blue beret until completion of initial trg (the old "passing off the square"). I was very surprised to see them when I was posted...
