The red one, is Black Watch . It was worn instead of a badge. In the khaki, black and red TOS ,it was fitted into the headband ,i presume there was a small opening in the stitching to allow this .

I bet they were unhappy when the Kings and Queens are getting nice new badges...

Its a nice cap ,even if the peak is huge. The 50s style Officer caps did have rather large peaks. For a junior Officer as theres no silver on the peak...

I looked further down the IWM search list. The anodised "XXIV"collars are held too,dated 1965...

I dont recall seeing an Irish pipers on the highlights of Edinburgh this year.
The QRH pipers used to wear the previous cap badges on shamrocks on the kilt too.

You may actually find that the F&S mark dates from when the badge was worn in the TOS by the Highlanders rather than the QOHldrs.
