Royal Marines QC in SILVER anodised

Another oddity?

Royal Marines cap badge with Queen's Crown all in silver anodised.

Shown for comparison with a gold anodised back of a Devon & Dorset cap badge.

Looking closely it is possibly made from an NCOs gun right arm badge (hence the stubs of loops E-W) with the upper scroll and crown and the lower scroll from a 'normal' gm badge very carefully brazed...

It might be that officers also wore a khaki ‘whistle cord’ with Service Dress and possibly Battle dress. ...
