NEWCASTLE OTC
Many thanks for all your interesting replies. As this badge is not in my particular field of interest it seems selfish to hold on to it so I would be happy to swap it for a pre 1946 or WW1 or...

VERY EXPENSIVE NEWCASTLE OTC
I bought this badge about 35 years ago for around £3-5 and never thought much about it. I have just seen Noonans Auctioneers have sold one for £340 plus commission (Estimate £250 - £300) and another...

Strange Essex Militia badge
Would you please give me your thoughts on this strange badge. The gilding metal parts are fixed by wires like some officers badges rather that the usual brazing on. Many thanks. Denis

VDG Badge
Hi Ian,
The officers pre 1929 V badge was slightly smaller than the later officers badges as per my photos in my 23.3.24 post in this section. Interesting to see the officer in your photos wearing...

Hi Ian
Your officers J&Co collars are super - as Alan says, the VDG badge was mainly worn and hence the scarcity of the officers horse badge and the price it commands.

Hi Pete and Dave,
Thank you for your replies and at least I know what they are now! Disappointing though as I had hoped they were the RVC collars.

Alan,
Many thanks for info, that would explain the scarcity of the horse badge! Interesting that both early examples I have are slightly smaller than the post 1929 version.

Thank you for your reply Alan. I have a horse officers badge but had to wait a long time before I found it. Was the silver VDG badge the more commonly worn one?

I have this trial 26th Hussars collar badge which is gilded on the front but bronze OSD on the back. Were these gilded on the front to be worn on the FSC? Denis

I have had this badge in my collection for some years now and wondered what it was without the Jellalabad and no sign of it having been removed. Could it be an officers militia cap badge? Denis
