Julian, WW2 military Cross monogram is GRI and is quite different to GR on earlier one so is quite easy to spot. Hope this helps.

Billy the ribbons are correct and the button is just a flat brass disc type button which was hidden by the belt thus the reason for it being flat. Hope this helps.

The 1939-45 star was originally designated 1939-43 and the ribbon was issued around this time as was the Africa star all other ribbons for stars were issued after 1945 l think.

The navy certainly wore miniature ribbons as l have several sets and discussed this in an earlier thread, as to whether the RAF had occasion to wear them is a bit of a mystery.
