Looks like, some one may have altered an original die, or filed away a JR Gaunt B'ham from the slider then duly applied an ageing battering to the slider. Cheers Sean.

North Irish Horse OSD collar???

Looks to me, you have an original WW1 tie pin, judging by the bar mark on the cenre of the badge, that might explain the lack of detail in the casting of the badge. Cheers Sean..

This maybe of help to you, the kings crown variant is original, and I would suppose, brass stampings would be made from the same die, unless yours is from a different manufacturer. Cheers Sean.

Rough Riders Collar Badge

As with many regiments, the original cap badges were found to be to large for wear in the general field service cap (large beret), so the collar badge was adopted for wear with this item of head...

Sorry ' but the badge is not cast, but die stamped with the makers mark impressed on the reverse part of the die, a similar example of this method can be seen in the Reid and sons Tyneside Irish....

Why would you assume that, simply because this badge came from Marlow's, it is a cast in stone original, I was sending back badges I was unhappy with, to Messrs Bosley and co in the 1980's, Cheers...

4H, 13H and 15H cap badge construction.

The cap and collar of the 4th Hussars , have identical brazing holes even on the numerals. The 13th and 15th have locating tags, I think to give the correct position during brazing. Cheers Sean.

The Scottish Horse

Here are a few of mine, different crowns and piercings. Badge A height 44.5 width 31.5, badge B h 48.5 w 32.5, badge C h 44.5 w 31.5, badge D h 38 w 25.5, all measured in mm. Cheers Sean.
