Hi all,

This gilt button came in a job lot of military buttons I purchased a while back and I haven't been able to figure out what it is! Probably not military but with the roped edge my thinking...

Interesting button that looks very similar to an early 1800s British naval button. I'd have a guess that it's an Irish naval button of the same period but don't know for definite!

Thanks for the info Pete, would never have guessed it was an Australian button! Normally with the buttons I'm selling I put them on eBay starting at 99p and see how they get on! I can't find another...

Could make sense as I've had volunteers buttons where volunteers has been abbreviated down to VOLRS with RS being smaller lettering similar to the D on this button.
