The 1st/1st Royal 1st Devon Yeomanry (TF) were in the Colchester area on both those dates.

The 2nd/1st were not there until Sept. 1915 and of course St Osyth is near Colchester, so no...

In WW1 Officers wore hem in Gilt, Bronze and Bullion versions.

Could also be from a Staff Officers armbandd.

Not an NCO's arm badge though.
