They certainly appear to be more 'red' than the original in my collection. But red can be a difficult colour to photograph, depending on light etc.

The vehicle looks like a Jeep so the pic was taken up to the early/mid 1950's as by then the Jeep was replaced by the Austin Champ, in infantry/artillery units at least.

Worn at least to the mid 1960's by 21 SAS but not by 23 SAS who were the green 'Combat' jacket.
