Gents, has anyone any knowledge of this REME cap badge? Its of 'new metal' type construction, but the colour appears to be a kind of brown/bronze wash - similar to the Gibraltar Regiment colour.

Thanks Tony - I have that backing on a badge, but this piece is much smaller (4.5cm square) - more likely an early arm badge or a piece sewn on to the desert hat or helmet cover.
