According to the Royal Sussex records (Moulin mainly) the very mixed bunch which was MI, wore their own Regimental insignia (the Brigade of Guards wore armbands)....They were easily distinguished...

The longer lugs on the Cap-Badge are for a plith Helmet.

I am in the second Photo.......it was a "Hearts & Minds" Patrol, the size of a fighting Patrol, but just visiting the local villages with a Medic.

I was Royal Sussex in 1961-73........The Collar Dogs you see, were introduced in 1961 & replaced the old Brass/Gilt "Stubby" ones (...and not vice versa as suggested above) They were silver anodised...
