I think a copy is simply that, it has no value whatsoever and is pointless, if you had an original beret, for example, then placed a copy badge upon it, I suppose it would be rather like a fine...

Yes they were, both the field service cap and glengarry were carried on the march and these badges were often subsequently worn upon the slouch hat.
