Sweetheart, Boer War Trench or Souvenir ?

Came across this nice brass badge in a drawer. A pick, shovel, and rope with South Africa engraved on the shovel blade. No makers mark and a stout pin to the reverse.
Not sure if it is a Boer war...

44th Regiment Glengarry Badge

There are two 44th Regiment Glengarry badges on Ebay at the moment. One is 49+ pounds and the other is 120 pounds. Both state that they are genuine badges. Can anyone point me in the right direction...
