It has also been attributed to the 78th Lancs RVC which had a 'Manchester Scottish' Company, but I am far from convinced on that one.

Never seen a chromed badge that didnt have chromed fittings as well.

In all probability a discoloured laquered white metal badge

Its a genuine pickled brass cap badge made by Scully, worn post 1925 and in all probability pre WW2 when the badge was mostly brass. A nice badge.

If he fought at waterloo aged lets say 16 then he would be around 99 years...

I have never seen one with which to compare it, but generally speaking it looks consistent with the quality of badges of that period and I havent seen any fakes, so odds on its a good one.
