Fake, avoid.

I have to agree with all the comments made on this badge, a fake which over time has been sold as an original.
After a couple of years resting in collections these are beginning to resurface...

Geoff in the UK

I can confirm Dave Oldham passed away after a long illness.
I'd known him for over 40 years when he opened up his first unit and last saw him earlier this year on one of my flying visits back home....

Wartime issue

A nice wartime example of a RNZAF pilots badge which i strongly suggest is NZ made. And along with the rest of the badges on the belt make a nice score, if only they could speak!!

Photo.

A rare photo indeed as only a few servicemen from Fiji joined the RAF. I was lucky enough years ago to purchase a tunic bearing FIJI national badges, the pilot in question thought only "about 12"...

Badged blouse

Hi Johnny, not the best of photos of the RAF pilot badged blouse but i have my doubts, a close up once available should dispel any questions of authenticity.

I'm also not sure if a PFF badge...

LOF hat badge

Interesting thread and i've learned a lot, thanks to all the contributors.

I wonder if anyone can post a picture of a NZ LOF WWI period badge that would have been worn on a lemon squeezer style...

National identification badge.

One of the harder to find wartime tropical RNZAF national identification badges, printed & woven variations exist in this style. A nice find particularity as a matched pair.

Unoffical national title.

Nice badge Greg, a manufacturer i've not seen before with just the right amount of wear exposing the brass base metal. Shame about the broken clasp though, on the bright side at least the pin can be...

WWII OA/NCO National Identifcation Badge

Yes this definitely a WWII production Other Airman / NCO issue and one of the more common mid-war examples. What is un-common is the way it's been cut down, i've never seen this before!!
The price...

Paper backing

The tissue paper backing sometimes bears a manufacturers stamp so check your badge in strong light. Occasionally the paper backing is no more than newspaper, my E badge now sold carried an obituary...
