Not your typical trade badge

There were investigations into printed parachute badges. There was even a suggestion to make a printed version of the Canadian badge. However it was realized almost instantly that no one wanted to...

Weave

The weaves were changed during the war in order to offset issues that arose in the quality of printing on coarse weave material. It was thought that it would be easier to print smaller details on the...

Thanks for that very cool.

I also just realized that in my book Into the Maelstrom

Another Copy 1CPB Cap Badge

Here's another copy of the brass Cdn Para Corps badge. They are very crafty with their presentation. Cutting the lugs off and adding the soldered pin. The problem is, originals DO NOT HAVE POCK MARKS...

GM Beret

It actually looks like the maroon die went into the lining or the entire beret was
thrown into a vat of die. Interesting.

Officer?

No, you are correct, it is likely an OR with an Officers cap badge while walking out. I have an Officers badge from a Private in the Battalion so it makes sense.

Thanks for pointing that out.

Another Photo

This is a photo of another officer at the end of the war wearing the same unmarked type. Again, NOTE the shadow in the beret and how the badge is attached to it. You can clearly see that the lugs...

Berets

It would be nice for someone to keep track of these berets to see how many of them are out there. There have been at least two included in veterans groupings. Both later revealed as not actually...

More evidence

This is a photo of Major Hilborn (right) of the 1st CPB - Note how the badge he is wearing droops forward. If you follow the line where the material of the beret
bends with where the lugs of the...

Embroidered Officers Badge

Hi Paul

From what I have been able to find out, it was likely a one off badge for Eadie. No others are known. As stated, these could be made while you wait. It may have also been a gift to him.

Officers Canadian Parachute Corps "fused" NOT "riveted" unmarked examples

It is a very real possibility that the company/companies that made the riveted and possibly fused badges during the war also made the higher quality stamped versions. But when? It is obvious that the...

Officers Canadian Parachute Corps "fused" NOT "riveted" unmarked examples

Photos of the badge being worn from May 1944. It is possible the badge became available in the UK in later 1943. These are the "riveted" or possibly
"fused" types.

Also the backs of some badges...
