according to the main reference for NZ reinforcemnt badges - Lowe- this frame type was used for 11 to 16 reinforcements

the number was simply sweated onto the frame.

Not sure what proportion of NZEF were born in UK. Some say between 18% and 30%. There is a list with over 1200 Named war dead out of NZ total of 18000 with a Scottish next of kin...
