The badge looks like an Other Ranks slidered one, incorrect, but it is possible for a cap to have been worn legitimately with different badges, for example when infantry regiment badges were replaced...

Looks like "D" (Duke of Lancaster's Own) Sqadron, Royal Mercian and Lancastrian Yeomanry wore a black band instead of the blue worn by the Duke of Lancaster's Yeomanry.

I hadn't noticed the flaws on the obverse, didnt look too closely, it was just another OSD badge albeit with slider. I took the nubs on the reverse to be markers for tangs that were never added.
