They look well made for cast badges so they could be wartime. The problem with cast badges though is that unless they have a maker's mark they are very difficult to attribute to any particular time....

Me too, but you have to do it properly, one coat of primer, one coat of undercoat and two coats of gloss. a rub down with flour paper and then a final two coats of gloss.
