1st The Royal Dragoons 1950's Trials Cap.

I came across these images in an issue of "The Journal of The Royal Dragoons" (No.19, June 1960) some while ago.

I'd never seen reference to these caps before, I wonder if any survive?

The only similar item I have, I think the plate is for an army bandsman (also worn by civilian marching bands?)
It's got some age to it.
I should get around to getting a plume etc for it.

The smaller badge I show is similar to the Glengarry shown in K&K but I'm not sure if the one I have is a Glengarry.

Looks like it should be possible to read the wording on the strap? If not, black light should do the trick, or applying some ink or thin paint may make it possible to read it.
